got a rebuilt bottom end with new freeze plugs installed. they leak. is that normal? do they need time to seal up?

usually when we do a rebuild we either shellac them or use silicon to prevent this. and sometimes the seal up some time they dont. u can try that liquid glass or liquid copper stuff they sell at most auto part stores

I never heard of new freeze plugs leaking, but if it would happen to me, I would JB weld it to ensure it will seal it up.
