You're worried about added suspension wear and tear on a car that's almost as old as you?!?! Sell the car and buy a fucking honda!!! Heard they're reliable as fuck...

You are right about the bumpiness. You are wrong about the added performance.
Tires need some flex.reduce it too much and they will transmit every small bump and hole instead of absorbing it, which will propagate to the roller bearings and the shocks, putting more strain on them. You would also need very good shock absorbers/coilover units with fast rebound and damper settings, which you will never put on a car like that (and if it is lowered then you have already done the worse you could do handling wise, so wheel size wont matter). One of the reasons i went back from 18" to 17" because is i hated the harshness 18" give. It shaked and break every bones in my back, and i only had 5kg springs front and 4kgs rear. That and the fact i cant fit 18" legally where i live (but tbh it does not matter seeing how many illegal mods are done on that car :wack: ). Then there is weight. My 17x8 / 17x9" + tyre combo also weight 8lbs less on each corner with 235 tyres than my 18x7.5" with 215s. This affects acceleration. All in all ... i would not go back to 18", unless i had a 400+ HP engine in the car, and then i would also get tyres with at least as much sidewall as my 17" have now. To sums things up: going 18" means it will break your back, put more strain on your suspension, weight more, lower performance and may cost more too (tyre price is costy in 16 and 18", not in 17", at least where i live). But it may also look cool. Depends on what you intend to do with the car. Do you want it to look like a cool car, or do you actually want a car that works on a track ? |

Well I never track my car, so I would say its mostly for looks, but I do go to the canyons sometimes, maybe like once a month. I have Hks Performer coilovers and the springs rates are 6/4kg. The mb battles I have are 18x9.5 +15 and im gonna run 245/40/18 in the rear, and 235/35/18 in the front. And thanks for the normal answer you gave, I realllyyyy appreciate that man, unlike the other people on here that just attack me. Thanks alot

235x40 on my 9" were already a bit stretched and it needed a strong machine to install them, i am not sure 235x35 on a 9.5" will fit really well, you risk debeading ...

Yeah, i know, truth can be quite shocking, esp. to ricers jdm tite yo crowd. Mind you, it wont debead when the car is standing in a parking lot; the risk appears mostly when the car is used, which is why you may never have heard of it.
Fact is, if governments and manufacturers recommend not to use a wheel larger than 9" for a 235 tyre, the reason is not "because they are uncool", but "because that can be dangerous as the tyres are not manufactured to work when stretched more than that". Which you obviously dont care, looks above all eh ? My 235/40 on a 9" are already a bit stretched. Now stretching an even lower profile on a larger width ... well yes, it has a risk of debeading. That is why most countries forbid that. But then again, poseurs dont need a working car, as long as it "looks good". And that is the funny part of the story really : only other poseurs like that kind of thing. To everyone else, cars scratching the road, fiber "mods", big shiny wheels, ultra low profile stretched tyres and various 10° camber "because it does not fit in the wheel arch otherwise" are considered totally fugly, hideous and stupid. |

^lol.
I've run a 205, 215, and 225 (all falken which run thin) on battles. 100% track use drifting. I've popped them from wear before they debeaded.

Shit, never had any debeading issue stretching 225/40-18s Dunlop Star Specs on 18x10j rims the last 5 yrs now. I use this setup for my fronts in anything and everything....drift, auto-x, hardparking, I must be fucking lucky according to Croustibat.
![]() ![]() Oh fuck, I even did edge drops on it, I can't believe it didn't debead and it was only at 34 psi!!! ![]() Yup, everybody who stretch tires are fucking posers and ricers. |

oh yea and i used to run my rear 215s at 55-65psi cuz i had no power and was a cheater...no debeading. hit walls and plenty of dirt drops. he uses all this 'ricer' talk and saying how its dumb yet its like hes just regurgitates what every other non informed or first-hand-experienced asshole does.
to be honest ive NEVER heard of someone at the track debeading a tire. (not caused by crash/impact/blow out) go figure. ![]()

And so are the people who slam their car "to get more handling" without moving suspension arm connecting points. Or people who claim their got better handling with 500$ poseur coilover kit. Somehow i really feel sorry for you people ![]() Oh well ... this is zilvia after all, meaning at least 80% of members have done that kind of "upgrade" to their car. |

Sure !
Here you go. Mine has the paint peeling off and no wheel caps, but otherwise that is my main car. It has a 1.4L 4pot 80HP engine, and 135 tyres. Works perfectly to go from point A to point B, and back, while transporting 4 ppl and various stuff in the trunk. ![]() WTF does my car has anything to do with the matter on hand, i wonder... I am no attention whore, got nearly no pic of my car. I use it, i dont sleep with it. |

Obviously it's not AS safe as non streached tires but it also doesn't mean that if you do anything more then 'standing in a parking lot' they will magically explode. also I lovethat you comment about him being the 'tire experct' (after telling us how it wont work for anything other then hard parking) like your word is infallible you hypocritical fuck.
And where did this slamming your car for handelig stuff come from? I didn't realize this post was about op asking if slamming will make his car faster. Obviously slamming a car fucks with handling. Also I'm going to go on a limb and say if your car ran Godspeed vs kw without knowing which was installed you wouldnt know the difference or would 90% of zilvia. Not to say I run godspeed or the like due to BUILD QUALITY but I've seen plenty of dudes ripping harder on 'poser' brands then those people on name brand. Doesnt make them posers...just cheapasses haha. But again what does that have to do woth stretching tires??....You bring up irrevelnt points to try and win your already failed argument. Please feel sorry for us maybe itll make u feel better...cuz I'm sitting here laughing at you and your ignorance while feeling sorry for your penis problem. ![]() ![]()

![]() Like i said, i am no attention whore, thus i dont make pics of my car. The only ones i have are taken from friends on various trackdays. And believe it or not ... You are in no position to demand anything ![]() I drive it, i dont wank on it, you can sit on it ![]() I hope some mods come by here and teach politeness to you and your friend, little crybaby ![]() BTW did you know xenophobic talks are punishable by law? |

But really get back on track.... Op: I wouldn't go thinner than a 40 series. stretching is fine but does add more bump and takes away grip. But I do stetch tires cuz its cheaper and easier to drift if that's your thing. Also I wouldn't be worried about the increase in suspension wear. It would be so marginal that the 20+ year old parts would likely fail from 100 other reason before low profile tire premature wear haha
