1990 ka24e idling high! help!

ok, friend's ka24e is idling constant of 1.5k, and now is at 2k....is this a timing issue? if not, what else could it be? its a rebuilt engine, with 58k on it. the heat shield was taken off by the previous owner, so the plug wires get damn hot, damn quick. you think that could be it? if not, advice?! thanks all

throttle cable is where it needs to be. i think it might be a vacuum leak. you can hear air escaping while it idles.

try loosening the distributer and turning it towards the firewall.

If this doesn't help, i belive on the bottom of the ECU there is a set screw that will allow you to adjuct the idle as well.

Try turning the distributer, it probably loosened up a bit.
