jl crossovers to amp for jl rear speakers and tweeters

I have jl speakers and tweeters with jl crossovers with amp the guy before me kinda hacked it but it should be set up for this. The crossovers say go from them to the output of the amp however connecter from the crossovers are 16 gauge wires to the amp which is the circle connection u push in guess called amp wires not really sure I blew the audio fuse under the hood so I figured it was backwards why are the connections to the amp go from one type to the other
