LED bars as headlights

I haven't been able to find much on this subject, but i wanted to elimintate the stock headlights on my hatch, and just run 6-7" LED bars.

Does anyone recommend a certain brand over another? I'm seeing a bunch for lights that range anywhere from 30-600 bucks..

You could go with rigid light bars. they are pricey but solid products and have am uch better light output then the cheaper china ones.

those are designed to be for supplemental lighting and not a replacement for a main beam. Next time post in the lighting thread.

It has been done, I saw a guy with dual row LED bar cut up and placed in the pop-up housing. If you are doing it for fun, go for it - just be responsible and don't blind people. Plan to point it way down or maybe install some top plate that can give a nice cutoff.

I have a 180 watt 24 inch single row LED strip I got for $80 on eBay - I am mounting at the bottom of the FMIC core. Just for fucking around - I call it the Bastard light. It's so bright if it was pointed up I would worry about opposing traffic being blinded and hitting me. On my empty country roads it should increase vision by a huge amount.

This is all illegal BTW. In NY you can get ticketed for off-road lights on a street car, but it seems like they don't pull you over if you are not caught blinding people.

simple answer NO, and you're a dickhead if you do it.

get trucklite LED headlights or something if you really want LED. Light output is not that great though, and an HID retrofit is more cost effective and performs better.

14.4 volt battery at 600 Amp hours and each LED draws about 50mA. 600/0.050 = 12000 LED possible to be on your car at one time. I bet 12000 LED do provide more lumens than a standard HELLA front bulb. IT ONLY MAKES SENSE THAT YOU DO IT! Ebay sells bags of white LEDs for dirt cheap so you will need about 1200 of those bags to make AWESOME and cheap LED bars.

Why LED bars?
Think smart.
You should put subwoofers in your headlights.
