1991 240sx...

O.k. i just got a call from this guy who's car i looked at about 2 months ago. he said it was still for sale and it is a 1991 240sx black 5speed, but it has 180K on it. it has just a lil rust by the rear hatch. it is very clean and it doesn't leak any oil... an older gentleman drove it and judging by the miles on it, all highway. i believe he said 2 months ago about $1200... what do you guys think.... Buy? please help me here and be honest for this will be my dailydriver or should i get it now and build it up over the winter and just keep the car. i do live on long island (NY) and they are very hard to come by. did i mention it is an SE....

Hmm sounds like your buying the same car I have, not exactly but close enough. I bought my white 92 hatch for around 2400 with 170,000 on it when it was bought. Mine was a one owner car and was in damn good condition except for all too famous rust under the sponge spoiler routine. As a daily driver I dunno around 180,000 is when shit gets sketchy with the KA's, and the timing chain starts to crap out. The TC rod bushings have probably turned into jelly by now and need to be replaced. If he maintained it though it will run for maybe another year or so. Take care of the rust now, you'll regret not doing it later. That shit will spread and ruin the hatch trust me cause it nearly did it on mine. Other than that buy it thats a decent asking price, its a SE which to me doesnt mean shit because the diffrences between a SE and a non SE are nothing in my opinion. What exactly are your goals for the car? I ask this because if I were you I would do everything you need to now. SR swap or whatever the winter time is the best time for it. But yeah definately go for it cause the prices are only gonna go up on 240sx's cause kids like me want them really bad and will pay too much for because they are "super cool drift machines"
