Nistune Maps
Hey guys,
I am interested in getting either a Nistune or a ECUMaster DET3 so I can get a tune. However, I am curious if Nistune supports different sets of map which I could change on my own if I wanted. I know the DET3 has a memory of 2 different maps so I could just plug in my laptop and change the map sets myself. How many map sets does Nistune have? I looked on their website and it doesn't mention anything about that. Thanks! |

I'm pointing you to the best daughter board setup for the SR20 ecu. http://www.nismotronic.com/ not a tuning website.

Nistune will hold one map at a time, if you want to different bin you need to use the laptop to load it. The draw back to nistune is that your stuck with the 16X16 map to tune with and a maf.

Oh I see. Isn't 16x16 the most common though?
I was thinking about ECUMaster DET3 and that has an integrated MAP sensor and holds 2 individual maps, so I was thinking it is superior to the nistune. |

Yeah that's factory, Nismotronic bumps it to 20x20 for fuel and ignition. Also map sensor with AIT. It's almost like a stand alone.

Its not "almost like a standalone" it is a Nissan specific standalone that has 90% of the features of standalones that cost 5 times the price.

Don't think so, I think just the S13 ecu. You could still use it but just like when neo-vvl people use it you will have to wire up the vct to the breakout board and trigger it that way. Not sure if the S14 is on and off for the vct or if it moves it in increments.

Do not be afraid of the 16x16 "limitation". My tuner got 700HP+ out of his ca18det and mapped it with a nistune. Unless you plan to get more than that, clearly a nistune is not going to limit power. The nistune can also be fitted with an alcohol sensor so the car can be mapped and run as flexfuel (any mix of e85 and regular fuel). It also has launch control now.
Still, if OP wants more than 1 set of maps (i wonder why but hey... to each their own), a nistune may not fit its needs. |

I'm just thinking that I would prefer to have a map to run, and if something goes "wrong", just plug in my laptop and get another map on. Is that not what independent switchable map sets means? (As ECUMaster DET3 advertises) |

Different sets can be used upon conditions, like a "full power set" and a "despicable driving condition set" ... but that is just wishful thinking in the end. What are you calling "in case something goes wrong" ? ECUs have a standard set and a "fallback" map sets, that allows a limp mode when something is wrong already. |

NismotronicSA has 2 sets of 2 maps each, total of 4 20x20 maps for both fuel and timing. The load source (MAF,MAP,alpha-N) is selected for each set and switching between Primary and Secondary maps within that set is fully programmable.
