Scratched up my Zenki Headlight....

I was trying to make my headlight look more clear by using the turtle wax rubbing compound. Unfortunately, i used a dishwasher sponge (scratchy side) and kinda scratched my headlight. Its sorta noticeable but you can see the fine scratches. What can i do to make it glossy back again? Also how do you go about clearing up the headlight cause obviously this rubbing compound doesnt work at all.

A dip in bleach clears plastic good. I wiped the my headlights with bleach, to make sure it doesn't get damaged, and it helped a little so I'm pretty sure if I left it soaking in some bleach it would do the job, well...with a good waxing after as well. Not 100% bleach neither maybe like 70/30 more water. Only reason I haven't tried this theory is cuz I'm too lazy to pull of the plastic from headlight assembly. All I know is it didn't get damaged after rubbing the hell out of the headlights so proceed at your own risk.

something else is to use rubbing compound. best is made by 3M, use that and a towel (NOT an abbrasive sponge) and it should buff out pretty clear... I worked in a body shop and that's what we'd do if we replaced a headlight and the other was kinda dingy...

true, 3m does make good compounds.. but then again they control most of the market along with dupont...if its that bad, u can always wetsand the whole thing starting with 500-800-1000-1500..... then polish it with a buff wheel and compound.. this is what some of the hotrod guys do with theyre glass headlights.. but they go alot higher then 1500 trust me... anyhow that should take care of the hazy scratches... it works for plastic also.. u might want to consider buying 3m urethane sheets... u can buy it as a roll... never buy one of those kits.. its basically the same thing.. the urethane sheets protects ur lights from future sun hazing and road damage...

If you try it let me know how it goes. Unfortunately school and work take up a good chunk of my time but if I can make time for it I will experiment and report back. I might be doing it soon since my corner lights have funked up seals.

yehi want to try that too, but it seems like too much of a hassle. do any of u guys know were u can buy clear non yellowing headlight casing for less than 150 dollars. iv only seen them for 300 each.

the only non yellowing ones I know of is the glass headlights from germany and they are gonna cost ya, I'm gonna try this on my headlight today I'll see if can finish it today and I'll post some pics for you guys..if I finish it today...

just wet sand it with 2000 grit then go over it with a plastic wax
