diff oil question

so i am looking for an lsd right now, but as i save for a good one i will try anything to the open diff accept weld it to get it to perform better. so i kinda heard that putting thicker weight oil in there will sorta help, which makes sense right?

the thicker weight oil i dont think will help it at all performance wise. all it will do is provide a little better coating on the gears and allow a little better head transfer.

i believe standard 80-90 GL5 is recommended. I have that in my car and it runs fine with the open diff until i get the money to bust out a lsd

are there any problems associated w/ using synthetic gl5 in a s13 w/ open diff? I'm considering redline's 75W90 NS gear oil-- the same as their 75w90 but w/ out the friction modifiers

No problems at all...

Diff oil choice IS NOT critical...use any proper weight gear oil and you'll be set.
