my POS13 does that. I can open it by using either, but the only way i can open it MYSELF is if i turn the key in the keyhole, and lift the hatch up with my hand, other wise there's no popping involved or anything...

not to jack the thread, but does anyone know how to get mine to pop? is there some sort of spring or somethin?

To get the poping sound, all you have to do is loosen up the latch and push it down. I think its two 10mm or 12mm bolts, just loosen them push them all the way down and then tighten them again. It will get harder to close but it keeps the trunk closed properly.

theres like two rubber things on each end of the hatch i believe. i think you can adjust those. also, you can just simply put something in the way of those rubber things. itll make the trunk pop easier.

try either pushing down on the trunk , or pulling up on it and relieving some weight from it , while turning the key at the same time , i had that problem . good luck .
