Unhappy noob: check engine light to oil light help???

Ive had my 240 goin on 4 years. anyways I can't get it smogged b/c the check engine light is on. I recently took out the bulb and it fails the visual since the light doesn't come on. I need my certificate since it passes with colors.
help me out here, my friend said I can route the check engine wire to the oil light so the check engine light comes on when you put the key to ACC and it will go off since its re-routed. tell me what pins to splice b/c I plan on doing this tomorrow. show me some links to the control panel under the steering wheel please.
I need this done asap so see what you can do for me please
call me if your around and can help, Im in Redwood City or just pm me or call me at 650 281 1129. thanks
Garrett

IIRC, it was completely self explanatory once you pop the cluster off... you might want to also wire in a switch so your oil light isn't constantly on, or so you can read codes when/if you wish.

Im in a bind and need to get this working so it'll pass. please get back to me ASAP

I have a terrible memory so I'm not going to be able to be much help here... Did your oil light function properly prior to your modification? It's just a matter of finding what powers each LED and running a patch wire to swap them.
