95 to 96 fuel tank swap questions

First off, I tried searching for an hour, ...no luck. Ive found when swapping tanks from a 96 into a 95 car (because someone drilled a hole in the 95 tank), there is a wiring issue. on a 95, the 2 electrical connectors at the top of the tank are 2 wire and a 3 wire going into the tank . On a 96, one of the connectors doesnt fit because it's a 4 wire. So Ive decided to use my old pump and use the 96 sending unit, but first off, I cant get it out of the tank. Secondly, with the differences with wiring, will the float from the 96 work, and how do I wire it into the 95 system?
