I've got a stock 97 ka24de, and it rattles something horrible. I believe it's the heatshield over the exhaust manifold. Question is, would it be detrimental to anything to just remove the heatshield?

No. Removing it will be fine.

If you can, replace the bolts that hood it down, or bend it so that it can't rattle...that'd be better. But removing it won't hurt anything.

Just make sure it is the heatsheild. I thought it was my heatshield, and it turned out to be my timing chain rattling around.
