what exactly am I dealing with here?

so I bought a m/t for my auto to manual swap, and it's in knarly shape. I found a site that sells rebuild kits, so I can just freshen it up before it goes in the car, except I'm not 100% sure what trans I have. The guy I bought it from told me that it was a DOHC trans, but it was in an 89... idk. the only Identification I could find said "TA 71B (picture of a kangaroo) #5". Now I have no clue what this means, but hopefully someone here does

The mysterious Roo.
It's popped up from time to time, usually from people having it on the crank girdle in their SR's.
AFAIK, there is no solid evidence of what it signifies, just speculation it's a stamp for a company Nissan used to outsource some of their parts.
Could it mean the tranny is from an SR??

Girdle pic:

SOHC tranny = DOHC tranny

I saw the kangaroo, but i noticed it as a hand first.

Thumb pointing down, index pointing Northeast, and wrist pointing Northwest.

No worries, just bolt it up. If it messes up, you get the pleasure of taking it back out, replacing, and learning a few new things. Either way, its a learning experience.

I think it could very well be an Australian jobber for Nissan. Both countries have very integrated trade relationships and are close in proximity. That might just be the identity mark for country of origin.
