Well, about 3 months ago I bought a 240 for the purpose of being my track/autox/weekend fun car. I wanted a car that I could pay off quickly, and I could afford to wreck (seriously). I was too scared to drive my RSX on the track because I was afraid of wrecking it after my first track day. I was hesitant to go to the limit, because if I made a mistake it could have meant the end of my car or even life. Therefore, the 240 was only natural.
I plan on doing a bunch of track days in '06, so a roll cage was certainly neccesary from a safety standpoint. I immediately began researching my options. The only thing I could find was bolt-in cages that looked poorly designed. I knew I needed something a little more confidence inspiring. I found through my research that a custom cage would probably be the best option. I could get it designed exactly how I wanted, and I could get one welded in. I only wanted a 4 point weld-in in the rear with a diagonal bar, and a harness bar. I also wanted a cage that was SCCA legal, and something I could build off of in the future if I decide to build the car for SCCA Club Racing.
I began my search for a company that could build me a cage. My friend Russ told me about a company he uses called MRC Manufacturing located in Lawrenceville. I called them up and went up there to have them look at the car. Mike checked it out and we talked about what I wanted, etc. About a month and a half later, I took the car up there to get the cage installed. I went to pick it up about 3 weeks ago, and i'm very impressed with how it turned out! The cage is exactly what I wanted and is beautiful. They did a great job, and I will certainly use them again in the future. If you need a cage they are the guys to use. If you want their contact information let me know.
I thought the car was loose before. Now it's REALLY loose. Half throttle around a corner in the dry will get you into a nice power slide. I guess its time to install my LSD, and new rims with tires!
Anyways, here are the pictures......
