Broke my lug key, anyone know what type it is? HELP!
Well, I was rotating my tires and the tech who worked on the car before me tightened the shit out of the lugs because while trying to get them off (I had soaked them in wd40 before), I hear a crack and a shard of metal goes flying past my head, welp, now I have a broken lug key and I need to find a replacement, I dont think I'll keep these pieces of shit if the key snaps like this, I'm planning on ordering some Nismo lugs today.
Heres the lug, is has 6 semi-circle points that fit onto the wheel ![]() ![]() And the broken key. ![]() PLEASE HELP ME!!! What type of lug key is this? Anyone know where I can buy just the key? |

it looks like muteki's, my friend with wrx had the same problem and he was up f*cked river without paddles, until he contacted muteki and they sent him replacment lugs with key for free, but after that he trahsed the muteki's and got some ray's lugs, just contact muteki or where you purchased it from they should sent you a key if its under warranty

saaamee fuckin shit happened to me, fuckin idiot at the tire shop didnt calibrate the gun correctly and tightened the hell of the lug nuts on my sisters car. I went through 2 adapters, and 2 socket wrenchs, then i started using breaker bars to try and take it off, no use, i ended up taking it to pepboys and some guy hammered in a smaller size socket into the lug nut and used a sick ass air gun and took it off, if its on that tight youll need an air gun, no way youll do it by hand
autozone DOES sell shit like that, so try giving them a look to see what they have and compare, GOOD LUCK TO YOU MY FRIEND |

On a side note, If you actually want lug nuts that will help as a theft deterrent get ANY other lug nuts or locks. We have the keys to those "spline tuner" lug nuts on all of our tool caddy's along with all the regular size sockets. At least half of all aftermarket wheels we sell and work on have those lug nuts. Just fyi.

yeah, the lugs came with the car, I plan on getting a different style soon enough. I was able to make it to les schuab and back with my lugs tightened by hand and picked up the key for 7$.

Yeah man, mine are gunned too, I figure just take my chances since its so cheap for keys / new set of lug nuts...at least Mutekis are better than discontinued Kyokugen, those keys broke way too major. Urrrbody has Muteki though for sure, get something like Gorilla or McGard, etc.

Weld that sucka foo!
Been there too, mine were the internal type and the tool sheared clean off inside. Tried some tire shops and came up empty. They suggested the chisel method. I ended up getting a torx type bit and removing three of the nubs. Worked like a charm. But yeah, seems you could press that in a vise and weld it. Might just break again somewhere else though... |
