As I have said before, I have the soch KA. I love it. With all the talk about the SR20DET running around, thought you all should know today, yes today, I put a sticker on my back window that reads: "Long Live The KA24E" Unfortunately, almost no one will know what it means.

Love your American Nissan engine. Build them to beat the Japanese versions. K, I'm done with the super deep mushy stuff now.

because in the 240sx world if you don't have a turbo DOHC KA or an SR, you don't have shit.

then there are people like me, chicken man and transient.

at a meet i went to there was a KA vs SR race. guess who won (KA) guess which had 10 less HP (KA) it's mostly hype for the SR. that's my opinion.

cool. well, i'm proud of my ka n gonna keep it. only way i'd go w/ an sr is if i had an s13 where i might need to get an engine swap done. i could tell the ppl that read super street that it's an sr20det silvia engine n they wouldn't even notice the difference probably since they're hooked on the idea that YOU HAVE TO get an sr in there to be cool and fast.

I have not yet had a single engine related problem. I bought the car with 49,000 on it two years ago. Since then, I've got 85,526 (36,000 miles of driving balls out)(gonna change my oil today) I've only used Castrol and NAPA silver oil filters. The most I would call a problem is having to cut holes in the floorboards for the top transmission bolts while I was doing the clutch.

My only annoyance is the transmission isn't that smooth. It sometimes catches the gears a little, probably because I try to shift it too fast for a truck. I actually wish it was a close ratio four speed like my 76 Courier back home.

I've jumped it many times, rallied it around dirt roads, and it still hasn't broken. Going to do the wheel bearings pretty soon since it has also been door deep in ponds and mud. Basically I have abused it in every way possible and nothing bad has happened.

Did change the fuel temperature sensor which mysteriously went out last summer. Oh yeah, and both O2 sensors. #### 96 with manifold and cat sensors.

I never drive it hard until it reaches operating temperature. Almost overheated it the other day. Got about 3/4's on the C-H needle. That very same day I went and got a new electric fan thermostat. Problem solved.

One more complaint: It rattles. Can't do anything about that though. It's been in accidents.

was the KA vs SR race at the Nissan Convention (I think it was in Kansas a year ago??)?? I heard stories about such a race... and the SR guy was cheating, taking stuff out of the trunk after the agreement they'd race the cars as is.... oh well. Also, wasn't the KA in an S14, the SR in an S13.... giving the KA even more of a disadvantage (weight)?

LoL.... anyways, there's definitely potential in the KA24E. Who says you need a DOHC motor?? The best streeted NA KA I've ever heard of was a KA24E with side draft carbs (244HP). Then there's Adam Hutchinson's (on the FA boards) turbo SOHC, which puts out a bit over 200hp (the limit of his fuel setup IIRC....). Since the KA is reported to put out over 300hp, I don't see why there's a big deal on the SR having a better bottom end to start with. How many people have 400+ HP SRs?? At that point, both SR and KA owners are usually rebuilding to forged components.

I'm sticking with the KA because I have a 240sx... LoL. We don't need no stinkin smaller engines here in America
(That, and I can get a KA engine for like $400.... in case I blow mine.)
