i was driving my moms car today and i started on my way to schoool and when i took off (normal pace i wasnt going fast) i felt a slight vibration in the clutch pedal and the revs dropped low as i eased out the clutch...as if the power drained. are those signs of a slipping clutch? i dont really notice it alot and its not troublesome but i wanna get it fixed before the warranty runs out.
btw the car only has 22K miles but ive read in mags (c&d) that the jetta/golf/beetle clutch needs replacing often

Well, it almost sounds like your just not giving the car enough gas. That would explain why it shakes and the revs drop as you engage the clutch. Sounds like when I try to go up a steep hill real slow.
Unless it was really abused, shouldnt need a clutch replacement yet. Doubt they would be covered on waranty anyways. Maybe though.
When my clutch went, I went to take off from my driveway and as I engaged the clutch, the car just didnt take off anywhere near as quick as usual. It was pretty clear the clutch was slipping. Feels as though the torque from the engine isnt making it to the wheels, which is what is happening

Yeah, revs will spike if your clutch is slipping, not the other way around.
