Clutch pops out at 5k rpm, but isn't popping out of gear?!??

Ok I dont know how to even search this. I have an sr20det and while racing a friend in 3rd gear, at 5k rpms the car just reved. But it didn't pop out of gear. It's almost like the car went into neutral but it was still in gear. Any ideas? Haven't looked at anything yet just trying to get ideas before I go looking tomorrow. Thank you in advance

Take your car for a drive. Get to about 25mph. Put it straight into 5th and floor it once the clutch has engaged. You will determine if the clutch slips then.

yeah sounds like a slipping clutch. A friend had the same thing, replaced the clutch and fixed!
