I hate PAX

I was just looking at the PAX factors for some classes.....

BStock: 0.825
FStock: .806
GStock: .782

Yet...
STS: .784

Now.... what the hell is STS doing with a .784 PAX?? What that says, is a fully decked out STS car with all the suspension mods you could ever want and a few engine bolt ons, is equivolent to a G stock car such as a 240sx....

So... a 240sx can compete in STS with a ton of mods, and only be expected to do as well as it would stock?? WTF??

it's all about the tires. GS can run autocross compound tires and STS cannot. that alone is worth at least 2 seconds on a 50-60 second course.

I'd have to say that gives GS an advantage over STS. Although, this would only matter in something like a "street tire" class some clubs have, where any class car can compete as long as they're on street tires. Or if you're looking to get fastest PAX of the day. Funny that HS cars are often up there......

I don't see that it's unfair for either. Look at how much of a jump there is from GS to DSP - that's what suspension mods get you.

Besides that, PAX factors are determined based on winning times in those classes, they're not pulled out of thin air.

I know they're pulled from winning times, but I don't recall if they're changed yearly?? Also, are they pulled from Nat. events?? I'm just getting off a gripe cause the STS guys are always faster than the SM guys at NER, then get a "big" pax

The PAX index is averaged over a five year span of winning times at the national championship. So, yes, they are revised every year. As far as STS guys beating SM in the pax, how developed are the SM cars compared to the STS cars? Are the SM cars using race tires? If you are not, that alone would kill you in the pax. Or maybe you just need to drive faster, hehe

Yeah... like 2 cars in NER are running slicks. We got a reality check when Mark Daddio came for event 2 and blew everyone else away (he was 4th at Nats). There was like a 12 second gap between him and the next best car in SM.

Man... I really need some slicks.....

they're not called slicks. they're usually called DOT's or just by their brand name (kumho, hoosier). Slicks are what the prepared and Mod cars run. There's a huge difference between the DOTs and slicks. Hope I don't sound like an ***. just trying to give some info.
