Post SEMA 2007 Spotlight: Greddy Nissan 350Z VQ35HR twin turbo kit

Filed under: Aftermarket, SEMA, Tuners, Nissan

Nissan's VQ35DE engine began a rush of aftermarket development when it was thrown into the 350Z in 2003. However, come 2007 Nissan decided that the single throttle body setup of the 3.5L V6 engine did not amount to the best performance (aka they had to beat BMW in the power wars) so they added another, thus producing the VQ35HR. Of course this move on Nissan's part left the aftermarket world standing still as many popular performance products, particularly forced induction systems, developed for the VQ35DE did not translate to the HR version. That is why Greddy's new 350Z turbo kit caught our eye at the 2007 SEMA Show. It is the first available forced induction system for the VQ35HR powerplant. The kit uses cast iron exhaust manifolds, Greddy's own turbochargers, twin entry and exit intercooler along and Greddy's E-Manage engine management system that piggybacks on the Nissan ECU. Greddy claims it is good for 700-plus horsepower. Of course, that would come with proper engine tuning and stronger internal engine components, particularly connecting rods.

Why?

Just wondering bc anywhere in a usable z33 engine bay it will suck hot air. I think they have the only location that is somewhat good.

And forget about front bumper ducts for intakes. too much movement of the engine.

edit: unless you want to saw zaw a bunch of sheet metal under the headlight area.

And I still will say that the greddy kit for the 350z is a pos. Aps owns greddy in the turbo department. Like I said. Greddy has maybe done some good with the new kit for the new z.

Smoke alot of crack today?

yup. ok? that is really generalized bro.

The piping, cooler, manifolds were ok. The turbo sucked, fuel management sucked. etc. basically everything besides the piping and cooler sucked. Every greddy tt z that I have seen go up hwy 9 has melted down. Sorry.

yea h=the turbos so so much that most of the owners keep them. and most of the ones pushing 500-600 still run them....yea real shitty turbos.

True the flow on them sucks after about 18psi.. but no many ppl run past 15psi on vq which with all the right mods can get 550+whp and close if not 600whp on race gas.

hehehe the VQ motor is nothing BUT hot air.

my favorite thing about pictures of the " TURBO MOTOR SETUP " as greddy likes to display, is that you dont see any of the other mess thats inside that damn engine bay. not knocking greddy, i mean they should showcase their setup and dont necessarily need to show the fully installed version, BUT.....

so many VQ owners forget what a crammed mess of parts are already inside that damn engine bay. VQ is just a slightly cleaner, newer VG setup. :-)

ah thats evil to say

Those filters go out quick. A guy basically sandblasted his piston walls and nuked his rings when his fliters when out at a track event. Oh, the e-manage fried his coilpacks after a crate motor was installed with that same kit.
