strut towers... something to worry about? big pictures

i notice there's a bit of cracking on my strut towers and wondering if anybody has anything to say about it. cracking of an important mounting point can not be any good. i know that the strut towers are a usual place for rust to form and it looks like it was already repainted when i got my car so it may have already been dealt with once before.

i think u need to weld that up quick. there are more points to weld but im not sure where. if somebody can take the pic and show us where it is a good idea to spot weld the towers would be great.

I remember quite back ago someone with a white hatchback that had the strut towers rewelded when the engine was removed.
Check the lower part of the tower, you may find more cracking there.

where to weld? just along the seam or go crazy and do it everywhere?

also i was wondering whether a strut tower bar would help or worsen the problem.

you dont need anything. Its an overlapse of glue from the factory where they glue the parts. Basically like chalk outlining on a house window.

Yeah, its no big deal, just the glue from the factory like was said. S13 front ends arent the sturdiest of things...

If you wanted you could get the shock towers stitch welded, but thats not neccessary at all.

^ Yeah, what they said.

The real rust problem area on S13 is the frame rail near the front shock tower -- particularly the drivers side near the BMC.

I purchased a parts car 89 coupe that suffered an engine bay collapse due to rust.
