s13 tranny whinning when clutch is pressed

clutch pushed in it only makes that noise - sounds like a weak version of powersteering running low or out of fluid

dont feel any difference in shifting tho

Does it kinda sound like low pich growl?

If yes, sounds like a throw out bearing problem.

Agreed. T.O bearing.

has anyone ever heard of an actual case where one COMPLETLY seized? just curious...cause i've heard many bad t.o. bearings, but never seen or heard of a seized one.

I also have this problem, when I depress the clutch I hear a low-pitched "whine".

From searching, I think it is a throwout bearing.

What I wonder is will anything other than the T/O bearing and pressure plate be damaged by running the car like this? I've heard the pressure plate will be damaged, but if that's it, I hate to say it, but I will probably just drive my car 'till I can't anymore and just get a new clutch.

I assume the tranny must be dropped to get to the T/O bearing? How much damage is done running the car in this condition?

I would'nt change it till, you need a clutch, or the noise is gone.

can anyone answer my question?

Has anyone ACTUALLY seen or heard of a T.O bearing SEIZING? I haven't...just curious.... and yes...if it were my car(oh wait, i DID do this in my car!) i'd just wait till you change the clutch. Dropping the tranny isn't the most fun thing to do to replace a 20 dollar bearing.

its not the "sound like rocks inside a dryer." although i have that sound too.. lol...

the sound happens when ONLY the clutch is depressed. not when you put it into gear, not when you start letting go of the clutch when in gear. but ONLY when the clutch is fully depressed.

Never heard of it seizing, but the bearing can be worn out and not spin as smoothly which creates the noise.

Is very hard to seize that bearing with all that torque and load.
You WILL worn out your pressure plate.
