well, i didnt when i got my new clutch,(cash restrictions) i checked it when i pulled it apart, and it was in GREAT shape, cant say the same for the presure plate, but thats what happens when the friction material shatters. and mine has been good for about two months now, how ever a friend of mine didnt and it didnt last but about a week, but i dont know the cond. of his flywheel.

With the last couple clutches I have gotten, I have gotten used clutches, matched to the flywheels they lived their previous lives with.
My next clutch goes in the car within the next couple weeks, but will do so with a new flywheel... Every clutch I have replaced new in any of my cars has seen the flywheel resurfaced, I suggest getting it done personally. "Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it," is becoming one of my personal mantras. |

any NAPA can do it...it's well worth it to get rid of any pitting or concave-ity (word?) especially since you'll be getting a new clutch you might as well while you have it apart. NAPA can even do a rough grind if you so please...they did my chromoly flywheel without a problem.

11-20 bucks? Round here it is 40 something. And not all napa do it, but my local carquest does. Whoever has got a machine shop.
Just don't be surprised if it costs more than $11. Still worth it. |

The pitting and warpage will kill the new clutch instantly.
Glazing on the flywheel can kill a flywheel slowly. Just continuing the problem that killed your last clutch disk. You differently want to resurface if you are going to run a different compound. People get away with dropping another Organic disk in. Drop a ceramic or Kevlar disk in there and the organic deposits on the flywheel will foul the disk.
