I need a How to on fender rolling

I have heard you can do it with a bat or a mallot... i dont have the money to buy a real fender roller so what are my options? i can drive with the current tires but it rubs on the driver side so i dont need to clear a lot more.I have read you can cut slits in it to make it fold eaisier but you should always heat your paint first to keep it from cracking.Anyone with experience please enlighten me...thanx

well i learned this from RiceEata on here. we took a big pipe about 3inch diameter and placed it between the tire and fender. we went back and forth and lowered the car a bit more each time. the paint only cracked on the inside of the fender and didn't spread to the outside. came out really good to. we didn't heat it or anything. but you cant go to extreme without heating or the paint will chip on the outside.

Heat fender edge with propane torch.
Hold old shoe against outside of fender.
Pound inside lip flat with hammer or rubber mallet.

Done! No messed up paint, no weird flaring of fender visible from outside. Takes 10 minutes per side.

I rolled my fenders with an Eastwood fenderoller. I did it on a hot Texas summer day so there was no need for a heat gun, I just went at slowly just to make sure that I wouldn't fuck anything up (with the help and guidance of my friend Ivan). Before I started with the rolling, I took a razor blade and cut the paint where I anticipated the metal would fold so that it would lessen the chance of cracking the paint. Remember to clean out the inside of the fender to remove any buildup of dirt and crap before you start rolling.

Edit: just realized that you want to do it the other way (without the roller), the above method works very well too.

Exactly what I did... My hand smelled like feet afterwards from keeping my hand inside my old shoe.

Do not and I repeat...DO NOT cut slits into the fender lip. I learned that the hard way from a friend who read from club4ag the same sheit. "Cutting slits will make it flare out better and easier' BULLSHIET, all that did was weaken the integrity of the roll. My fender started folding in and saggin at the same points that i slitted it. Now Bondo is my friend...

Anyways which fender do you have to roll? Front or back? With the back, yah get a hammer and go to town with it. The rears got 2 plys of metal so it takes alot more work that the front. The beauty in that is you can fuck up and it wont be too noticeable cuz the of the thick plys. Do it by hand and feel the outside if you have to give it a slight pull.

i think i saw a fender rolling article in super street like 2 weeks back. (no im not a fan of the mag) check at ur local bookstore, it might stil be on stands. or if ur friends subscribe.. it has a *ghetto method of baseball bat vs using fender roller*

altho u should prolly just rent a roller. the ppl u rent it from will tell u. its not rocket science.

i rolled my rear fenders myself last week using a 3" pvc pipe that i found in a buddy's garage. it worked rediculously well, the paint on the inner lip chipped off but none of the paint on the outer body did. i then moved down to a smaller diameter pipe (jack arm) to get the roll really nice and folded in. it turned out great. but then again i have shit paint and i didnt really care if it got f'd up, so if youre like me then try the pvc pipe, you'll be surprised.
