ka42de help

i bought a s14, it ran good for awhile.
now all types of problems have come up.
the current problem is my motor over heating... ive replaced the coolant with new coolant and 50/50
also, my reverse has sorta gone out (its an auto)
sometimes itll go into reverse, sometimes it wont.
when it does itll be like usualy, at 800 rpms
then sometimes i have to get it up to 3500 rpms for it to catch
i was on my way to the drag strip and my radiator hose poped off ealier.
i replaced the clamp, its holding it on there fine now.
so, whys my motor still over heating?
thanks in advanced.

:edited: i meant to put ka24de... its just been a real long night.

i tried to bleed the line. a friend told me do it when it gets hot. i did, but he said only do it a very little bit so itll start to bubble out of it. it didnt bubble?

the new problem is my motor is making a knocking sound.
what could that be?
i dont want this car sold with a single problem. everything needs to be taken care of.
thanks in adanvced

does the sound lick a click? is it coming from the head? if so the timing chain guide could have broken...its common just remove it by removing the valve cover then the guide is right up front.

as for overheating replace the thermo. mabye the water pump too.

edit: in terms of the tranny, idk what to tell you but if you abuse an automatic enough i have seen them break fairlt easily

man, thats exacty what it is.
i forget these motors are chain driven
can anyone link me to a site that i can order this stuff? and compare what prices would be for a local shop to get them.
nissan charged me 26 bucks for 6 wheel nuts, and a timing cover seal.
napa charged me 332 for a new altenator.
advanced auto charged me 40 somethin for all the belts
then all the little things so far.
so much for wanting new seats in my s14! grrr
