Interior noises becoming annoying

Think I posted a while back about on the first start up , the trim around the center dash vents vibrates. Later on in the day it's usually gone. Well this morning my steering wheel was vibrating at idle and so was the trim around the vents. Also my passenger seat you can see it sorta vibrate some. Also that plastic cup shaped part behind the door handle inside, vibrates too. All seem to go away after the car has been driven through out the day, except the passenger seat which tends to do it anyway. Thats not the biggie, but the others are, because they can make a sound almost like a cell phone vibrating on a table.

I dunno if mounts are shot or what. But I'd like to figure out the problem. I know I need to get wheels and tires balanced, cause steering wheel has a tremble at highway speeds, but thats a different story....unless they all relate. But like I said the vibrations are start from time I pull out drive way until first couple of miles or so.

ANY HELP IS GREATLY appreciated

I dunno. Im so confnused right now to even pinpoint. Well one thing I do wanna do is align the vent on my door with the up thing that sits on top of it behind the handle in my s14. Evidently someone was doing something withthe door before I got the car, and cracked the cup thing by over tightening the bolt. Now it and the vent don't align correctly like they do on the driverside. Is it possible to take the vent assemly off the door panel on s14 95?

There are a few ways to take care of this.

If you can, bend out metal clips so they apply more tension. If they are plastic clips, or if bending the metal ones doesn't work, you need felt tape or self adhesive foam blocks. Just line the contact surface. This will take up any space, eliminating rattles, and will eliminate squeaks from the plastic pieces sliding on each other. IDK where to get the tape or blocks, Nissan had a *squeak & rattle* kit that had them all in it. Napa may have something similar.

worn motor mounts usually cause a lot of vibration

Felt you can get at wal-mart. Go to the arts and crafts section. I already did a bunch of squeak hunting. lol

What you could do is go to your local Volkswagen dealer. That's right. VW. They make a kit specifically meant to address noise, vibration, and harness (NVH).

The kit essentially consists of various types of tapes and foams, but it will have everything you need in one place. You can try applying some of that to the vent.

Another trick audio installers use to help with trim panel vibration is that they put Loc-Tite on the trim screws. Make sure you run all your wires and fix anything you need to fix. Then when you put the trim panels back on hit the screws with some Loc-Tite blue. It helps a lot.

Thanks guys so much for your help. Thought I was gonna get the "stop being a baby and drive the stupid car" lol. It's just hard to have a car that looks nice on the outside, make noises associted with a pos on the inside. Not sayin 240s are better than any other car, but thats just the pride I take in my car or any that I would own.

Well I guess I will still go through with then nismo mounts or get new ones. Hopefully b/w new tires and mounts, that should take care of the steering wheel rattle. But I wanna try putting tape on the vent trim first. You think I can do it around the door handle too? Its either gotta be a gap b/w the trim around the door vents and the door panel itself. Or its gotta be a gap b/w the door vent trim and the cup thing behind the handle. I call it the cup thing, but courtesy nissan calls it a Escutcheon or something like that..weird name. I thinks its all just a matter of clearances that need to be filled.

BTW. Anyone know how to get that piece around the dash vents off, the defrost and hazrd buttons come off with it correct? Any wiring I have to becareful of?

Thanks again!!!
