Machine Shop Recommendations

Ok im finally getting my mother f@king money and wanted to ask you guys if anyone has any recommendations on any machine shops that would do good work on my block and head. I want to get the block hot-tanked, decked and i want to see how much it would cost for the head to get milled, 3 angle valve job, might get new valve guides, valves installed, etc. and any other necessary things that need to be or should be done to a motor that is going to be rebuilt. Im looking for something in New York or close by like NJ. Thanx in advance.

PS: Since it will be the first time that i deal with a machine shop, can anyone tell me what is a fair price to pay for each process listed above. Im just scared that im gonna get rapped if i show up to the machine shop with no idea about what i should pay for the work. If i just show up like a virgin, i expect to get screwed since i have no idea what it costs to have anything done.

pretty much a useless thread, you should post this in regional, but ill give you advice, dont go to a place that only deals with american v8s. They dont like your kind, and dont care about your engine. they like 4500 redlines.

I don't know if this will help you at all, but... my motor is at the machine shop right now. I just called around locally (only 3 shops in this small ass town) and took the best price, which happened to be a "performance" machine shop (they do V8's). I have already corrected them 3 times and I'm just crossing my fingers that they didn't fuck my shit up ... I'm still gonna have to pay these incompetent bastards!.

the procedures for machining your block are the same for machining a V8.. it's nothing really that different. Needless you will probably spend in the range of $300 low to $550 high for general grade BS machine work. Both the head and block.

yes, the concepts are the same, but our tolerances are a lot tighter and we have things they have not seen. For example, an sr has block guards, they thought is was a nicasil (sp?) plating, rather than sleeved. It took me a week to convince them that they could bore my block.
