what rotor/cap/wires are your talking about?

if its stock change the spark plugs, fuel filter, oil/oil filter, air filter from airbox, check for loose bolts, change out fluid for brakes/clutch and just make sure everything is in good working order

go synthetic for oil, maybe more expensive in the short run but it'll be much better for the long run

clean air filter or replace
swap to z32 gas filter
flush coolant
change diff fluid
change tranny fluid - i'd recommend redline gear oil 75-90

that's my normal routine for a 20-30k tune up

i was wondering why is it called a s13 blacktop when the blacktop came out with the s14 silvia ? i was told it was called the s13 blacktop(non-vvt) due to the wiring harness?if this is true whats up with that a harness does not make the motor, not lookin to start a argument just wondering why.

because only stupid people say s14 sr20det blacktop motor

all s14 sr20det are black top.

s13 redtop/blactop differ (slightly) wiring ecus, oil pickup etc etc etc

wiring is different w/ all of them so are ECUs. and each carry minor changes w/ the motor and turbos themselves. same goes w/ s15 sr20dets

ok so why s13 blacktop it did not come in a s13 silvia right? it came in the S14(silvia), rps13/krps13 (180sx) right? the blacktop was the new motor replacing the redtop right? s14 silvia got blacktop VVT ,180's got blacktop non-vvt right? i know i know it's SO much easier to say"s13" over "rps13" but to be 100% correct the s13 to most people is the chassis code for a silvia. So what i was asking before was why call it a s13 blacktop when it did not come in the s13(silvia coupe) ...why not just say S14 non-vvt .... i don't say i have a s13, i say i have a krps13... maybe it's just my OCD kicking in but a S13 is one car and a KRPS13/RPS13 is another and i know that most, if not all the parts are swapable (if thats even a word) but it just does not make sense... i am not trying to nit pick or start a argument i am just look for a solid answer.thanks now back to your scheduled program.

ok u said s14 blacktop. what did i just say?
blacktops came in silvias too iirc. i think my friend in japan has one, late model is blacktop
early is redtop (zenkis most chuukis)

s13s got s13 motors. non vvt is s13 motor

all s14 sr20dets were vvt
s14 motor means: vvt blacktop it goes unsaid already assumed
s13 motor u sya blacktop or redtop because its alreayd known none are vvt and the color could designate more info such as ecu type and model (zenki, chuuki, kouki!)

no one really cares for the chassis codes.
s chassis is an schassis

S13 Silvias NEVER had black valvecovers stock
180sx had black valvecovers starting in either mid '94, or beginning of '95.

VTC damnit! You're thinking vvt-i like toyota motors.
Also, fucking right no 'S14/S15 blacktop' it's like saying S14/S15 Silvia. If it's S14 or S15 it has to be Silvia. Only time the difference matters is S13 motors and chassis.

Actually you did not answer his options correctly simply because sr20det's don't use NGK spark plug wires, therefore spark plug wires aren't an option.

Oh yeah don't forget to check your belts

When you talk bout S14/15 blacktop, they are pretty much known as the "notchbacks" to differentiate them from the S13 blacktops. The hump on the valver cover is the VTC. S13 blacktops are non-vtc so no notch.

Redtops are in S13 silvias and 180sx till ~93-94, when nissan switched to the S14 chassis, they dropped the redtop for the s14 notchtop. What people keep forgetting is that nissan changed the silvia but not the 180sx. 180sx were sold in japan till roughly 98. Same year they killed the S14 chassis for the S15 chassis. When nissan made the jump to the S15, bye-bye S14 and 180sx.

Blacktop non-vtc were solely in 180sx. Slight difference between the redtop, dead give away between the 2 is that the head on the blacktop, you will notice heat sinks on the front of the head vs a smooth front on the redtops.
Redtops and early blacktops (E-5 ECUs) are fully interchangeable with the redtops. You can swap ECU and harness and there is no difference. Newer blacktops had some minor changes from the older blacktops...I know for the Type-X 180sx, the ECUs are completely different and the ECU pin outs were slightly different.

PS: Tune up...change your o2 sensor, run some NGK BCPR7ES *gap them to .030* Z32 fuel filter...and thats bout it really as far as the engine. Oil is pretty much up to you, oil filter, try to get OEM Sentra SER filters. Stick with the year of the engine so atleast get a 95 since you have a blacktop. For Redtops get the 91 SR20 filter.
