Unhappy Detailed KA swap guide anywhere??

Hey, guys...i've done my KA swap, and im having major electrical issues. Is there anywhere that has a DETAILED swap guide? Im running an 89 coupe with a freshly installed 95 KA24DE motor with harness and ecu from a 95 as well. I've read the write ups, but all they tell you is to "match the colors for the dash harness" etc. What about the connectors by the battery that go into the fender?? Are those needed? I've searched and searched and searched..downloaded teh FSM's, traced wires, etc. I just dont understand why its been so easy for so many other people, yet I just seem to have the bad luck and it doesn't go smoothly. That seems to be the norm for me. Anyway, i forgot to mention the issue at hand. Im getting no spark, no fuel. The starter cranks over the motor fine. Also, im blowing a 75a Alternator fuse. We tried jumpering the fuse block after we blew the fuse, and it literally melted the corner of the screwdriver. I'm guessing grounding issue on that one. I metered from that fuse location out, and one of the lines is getting 4.4 KOhms instead of the normal .8 ohms. I would realy appreciate any help you guys can hook me up with. If you like, i have msn and yahoo as well, so if that makes it any easier to correspond, then you can add me... [email protected] and five_5Ziggen_4 for yahoo. Thanks in advance guys...

I've also heard that using a s14 ecu/harness requires major rewiring..is it possible to use an s13 DOHC ecu/harness on the s14 motor and still have it function properly? If so, will i have to change to an external coil type distributor??

heaven forbid you search... http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.p...threadid=33502

This method is based on using all S13 electrical components.
I cover how to use an S14 KA as well.

yeah, been there read that...sorry if i forgot to say that i've read damn near every walkthrough/write up i could find...even dowloaded the FSM's. i seriously dont know what the deal is. So, will s13 DOHC ecu/harness work on the s14 motor? I am assuming that it will by seeing tht you modified yours to work...but is there any way to get the s14 ecu/harness/maf/dizzy/etc to work with the s13? I dont have the money to be going out and re-buying the entire electrical system again.

Thanks again,

Jason

I stated as much in my thread.

I didn't modify it terribly. Just used OBDI parts.
I'm sure there is, but I don't know how to go about doing it.
It's 100% easier to just use S13 components to get it to work instead of using S14 bits.

So what all exactly would be entailed if i were to stick with the 95 ecu/harness/maf/dizzy? Anyone know?

distributor

most people don't have issues because they either use s14 long block + s13 everything else, or just go full s14 electronics.

this mixing and matching might work, but it's gonna give you headaches.

hmm... so you are running s14 everything in a 89 240sx?

when you set the key to acc position, do you hear the fuel pump go on?
have you checked for spark?
did you set timing?

Yes, i am running s14 motor, ecu, harness (motor harness...not lower harness, etc), and MAF. I've checked for spark...none...when i turn on the accessory, no fuel pump. I removed the fuel pump to be sure that it was working properly, by just simply wiring power and ground to it, and it operated fine. Also, the only way i get power to anything is if i jump the alt fuse (i blew the fuse, so i dont want to put one in there until i figure out my wiring issues). I've heard over and over again how much more difficult it is to run s14 stuff, but what i'm looking for is what i have to do to get it to work, besides buying s13 stuff. I'd rather go through more work than spend more money, just to get the same results.
