I'm not sure if it's a VLSD or just an LSD, it has about 50,000 Km on it, it's off a S13. It's going into my S14 so I know I have to get the outshafts... right now it's just sitting on the floor, I asked the guys at the shop if they knew what kind of LSD it was and they told me that they didn't know, I'm guessing it's the stock LSD's, so it the stock LSD the VLSD???

50000 Km is that too many miles??? should I just ditch it and get something else???

ditch it, I will take it off your hand for $50 <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

if it came out of an S13 its a VLSD unless it came out of an S13 from Japan it should have the proper output shafts on it.
Also 50 thousand miles is nothing . It should be fine

Jeez, I know *I* can't get the search function here to work, but if youse people have the same problem, then maybe you should try other places to search, 'cuz this info is absolutely everywhere:
1) The "V" in VLSD means "Viscous". A VLSD is a type of LSD, generally considered to be the "lowest-performance" type. It is, however, the only type of LSD that a 240 got from the factory.
2) 240's usually came with an open differential in the US, but the VLSD was an option in some model years.
3) S13, S14, it doesn't matter as far as output shafts are concerned (hey Dwift, we agree&#33<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>. The rear cover may be a problem, tho' (but if it is, you can just swap 'em).
4) 50,000 miles is indeed nothing for a diff, and 50,000 Km is even less; less than nothing, so you're cool.
