Arrow Is 300zx Rear Brake Swap Worth It?

i already have the whole front, and for the rear i have the calipers and the ebrake assemblys, i was wondering if it was worth doing it? the rear i mean, and im not drifting so i dont care about the drum ebrake, i asked some guys and they said the 300zx rears barely had an advantage if any? what u guys think? any of u guys driven just fronts and drive all 4's, does it feel any different

if you do the rears you gotta swap the brake master cylinder to any z32 *they all got different ratios * of your liking. just a little more involved swap. But i have it, the brake pedal feel is really nice, firm and tight like a new car. I dont like the drum ebrake tho, its just not as simple as the stock rear calipers.

If you like simplicity, stick with the stock rears and put in some good brake pads.

It all depends on what you plan on using the car for. If it's only a daily driver then there's no real performance advantage gained from swapping anything...fronts included. If you're not working the brakes hard enough to induce lock-up or fade then having extra pistons doesn't make a difference.

There's an argument to be made that while only swapping fronts you're creating a bias issue with the brake system. This has been covered a LOT of times and a search will provide any answers on the topic. And should you decide to do the rears then you'd better think about replacing the master cylinder.

That all said, I have only done my fronts and aside from the brake pedel being slightly spongy I don't think I'm missing out on anything not having z32 rears. If you plan on tracking the car hard or just want shit to look cool then by all means do the rears too. You've already got most of the parts needed.

if you have it/had it etc

then YES

if you havent, then no
because your content w/ what you already have

but w/ the full swap its night and day. braking pedal feel as well as the enjoyment of after lapping around the track pulling your ebrake intead of finding boards for your car. and if u drift, ebrake slides and such are so easy. locks up so fast. its really a pleasure.

DO IT if you have the money and time. otherwise, stick w/ stockers.

i already have a z32 mc, i was gonna use it regardless, my primary goal is autocross, scca solo, in that veiw are the rears worth it? performance wise

basically is the full swap noticeably different than just the fronts (both with z32 mc)?

I wouldn't say, if in reference to initial bite, that you'd feel a noticeable difference, but insofar as heat dissipation and brake balance are concerned (especially during road racing)... go for it.

I would agree w/ Tek and Dousan.

Only this I have to admit, I would run both only to keep a perfromance balance to the car.
