SR20 Ticking

I have an S14 SR20 in my kouki. Everytime I start moving, no matter what gear, theres a ticking sound from my motor that speeds up as I accelerate, kind of is in sync with the rpm. Somebody told me it could be my valves but im not sure. Does this sound like a common problem for the SR20? Any help would be great. Thanks!

have you checked the oil level in the engine? it could be a little low on oil causing the valves to make a little noise. and what brand/type of oil are you using?
