hey my s14 rear caliper piston is seized so now im wondering if the s13 rear caliper is perfectly interchangable with the s14s? i've read some stuff about the sizes are identical, but the ebrake cable is positioned differently?

and if they are identical, how can you diffreniate an s14 caliper from an s13? (just incase someone tries to sell me an s13 caliper for more saying its an s14 caliper)

What you said is pretty much correct, s14 has a hook that grabs for the ebrake cable and s13 well its different i jsut cant remeber off hte top of my head sorry.

One has a long cable bracket.(IIRC s14) And yes the s14 has the hook, s13 has the barrel ebrake connection.

would it be difficult to use the s13 caliper on the s14? or would it just need minor mods to make it fit?

Physicall, they both bolt on just fine. The lines aren't the same lenght though.
I have S14s on my hatch without e-brake since the lines were too long, had too much slack and didn't line up well.
