Ok, I was driving home from the movies today and it starting overheating even though the car had been sitting for about two hours. Now about a month ago I replaced the radiator because it had a leak and it was cooling fine until today. How do I find out whats wrong? Like if the thermostat is bad. Thanks

After you have tried everything have a place check the headgasket. I tried to find out why my car was overheating for a couple months. I replaced every part of the cooling system before a place did a test that registered the problem. This is not to say i didnt have it tested before. Two differnet places checked it before they found the blown gasket. Only the third place found it and fixed it. Now it runs great. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Try this for shits and giggles...While engine is cold, remove the radiator cap, and stick the end of a garden hose in there. Turn on the water and engine, and just let the water overflow from the radiator, and accasionally rev the engine up and just play around w/ the throttle!
I did this after i replaced my radiator hose, and had it overheat on me. After that it has run just under the middle mark on the temp gauge! good luck, -zac |
