What is this " backing plate " I keep hearing of?

I am doing a 5 speed swap on my S14, and I thought I had everything but now someone told me I need an Engine backing plate?

Wtf is that?

I ( think ) I have everything else...

P.S. anyone have a pic of one or something?

probably that big metal plate that is sandwiched between the tranny and the engine

protects it from potential damage if something goes wrong in the clutch/flywheel area

More importantly, it keeps debris off the back of the flywheel since without it fitted the flywheel is exposed. Imagine a rock flying up under the car and jamming between the flywheel and bellhousing.

My brother did the swap a while ago and iirc the auto plate didn't line up correctly.
