wow you have a specific whp goal in mind. 618..

rb30 block will be hard to come by you'll have to source one from australia. then you gotta find someone or an importer that will sell you just a head from an rb. maybe a blown motor. and the tranny by itself. im pretty sure the 6spd transmission is awd, unless the rb25 one is 6spd which im not sure of.

good luck on this swap. if you finish it you'll be probably one of the first in the us.

Canada

618 rwhp is a lot inna car thats gonna be a 100 pounds lighter then a skyline and yea

using a gtr transmission but not going to put in the front drive shafts I'll just plug them off

everything is coming in from Australia, I have a buddy that gets me stuff from there and Japan wont let go of any r34 motor stuff cuz its in high demand.

I might get the r34 gtr ecu cuz of the transmission though, but the full shopping list is 2 sets of r34 gtr seats, 2 rb 30 commodore blocks, a r34 rb25 head, r34 gtr transmission and the 2 ecu's, one for chipping and one backup.

then a full build, arias pistons 0.20 over, nismo main bearings, nissan rod bearings, someones forged rods, balanced crank, and some 272 cams, +5mm oversized vlaves, nismo timing belt, lightweight pulleys, N1 water pump and a oil pump, os gilken clutch and a lightweight flywheel.

the suspensiion list is too mig to list

an rb30 is not a certain kind of bloc, its just a stroked out rb25. there are stroker kits available for this to be done, but again, its hard to find here in the US.

you can use a regular rb25 head and build that up i guess

you are correct on the 6 speed being only in AWD, so your stuck to going with the rb25 tranny which is 5 speed unless your going all out and changing your drive train.

your power goals seem weird btw

my question is is has someone built up a rb30 an put it in something, theres a concern I have with the timing belt, does it fit, or do I move the tensioner to make it slack tighter ?

Sib Husky: I mentioned what I was going to do with that transmission, what I have in mind for that car requires that transmission. there are ways to make it a rwd transmission

I have my parts list being sourced for me right now, pictures will not come untill spring time when I get home and have the items in possession

pics of my silvia I can put up, but think of it as a white, ex widebody, shell, with glass, no doors/hood/trunk suspension or subframes.

yes people have done it.. maybe not in an S13 (i have no idea) but old Z chassis has.. check those forums.. btw are you doing this work yourself or you're paying someone to do it? dont get me wrong but as guys above have stated before.. listing out parts and numbers is one thing.. "building" a motor or even doing a difficult engine swap that requires fabrication is something else.. If you plan on paying someone for this you may as well take out a home equity loan!

btw here is where you can find some info http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php

YOu can get a only rwd six speed tranny from the neo-rb25 out of the rwd r34. might as well just buy the whole set that way you can take the head from the clip and the tranny and sell the short block.. But iam not sure if the r34 neo-rb25 head will work on the rb30 short block i believe it has to be r33 rb25 head or rb26 head. Non the less you can get the rear whell drive tranny in six speed but will it last with that power who knows?? good luck and if you do do it post some pics.. oh yeah you r also going to have to raise the hood or get a shaker style hood to make it fit as the rb30 gains displacement by more stroke therfore it is taller. Dude, if you are serious about doing this swap to be unique or something then I guess go for it if you have the cash, but if I were you, I would buy a Canadian R32 GTR for like $20k off ebay.

Even if you do make over 600rwhp, putting that down to the ground is going to be pretty f'in hard in an S13. Again, AWD R32 GTR...

J-Ondemand - I don't believe the S chasis is a pos, its pretty balanced.
throw some positive into your life and maybe your posts.

Everyone else,
I'll be doing most of the work myself, I have a shop sponser and I have my own shop with a hoist and nessicary tools to build the car,
the motor is going to a local shop for its buildup by a machincist so that its done correctly.

RB13: thatnks for your information, this is something I'm going to look into now that I know about it, to those that listed websites thank you for those too if I were near, I'd buy you a beer or 2

ps, keeping the power on the ground will not be as hard as you think it will, the shell is pretty heavy still regardless of the cf on it, there will be enough to keep it in a 50/50 split, I have a list of skylines to beat, so gtr buying isn't my option or want/need, but once the list is done, it'll be downed to like 500 and a time attack car.

youll have so much low down torque it will be ridiculous, and if done properly a very reliable engine with 600hp. this will be prettty cool to see.

Not much RB info here on Zilvia, might try:

NICO RB Forum
Skylines Down under
Skylines Australia
Calais Turbo

GL with your project, must be nice to have that much cash to dump on a custom hybrid swap. Post up some pictures if you end up pulling this off!

well i did some research on this myself too. it just sounds interesting, but i never plan on doing. just to much of a hassle. you can put the rb30 block with a rb25de head, but the head is NA not built for turbo. you can put the rb25det or rb26det head, but you need minor modifications to the head.

here is a forum that you might want to read it is over 200 pages about this hybrid
http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/for...howtopic=15420

on this one look for a post by Dancouga and look for the file that he posted titled "RB30_DOHC.pdf"
http://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=188136&page=2

i hope that helps. good luck.

Rb30 isnt impossible, but i ALWays live by the philosophy that "if it isnt broken, dont fix it"...

There are plenty of rb25's and 26's (mated with 25 trans') out there making well over 800 whp without needing an overbored block or offset (stroked) crankshaft. and 618 to the rear wheel huh? thats odd...

RB30E...non-turbo. Built back in the mid 80s, till they decide that itll be cheaper to run V-8 Chevy blocks.

As far as anybody building a RB30 in the states...none that anybody know off. All imma say is that isnt 618whp kinda low of a number to be shooting for with this kind of setup? I mean if a RB26 can those numbers no problem, why not more?

leave this attention whore alone. anyone who is serious about a swap like this wouldn't write anything like a power goal of 618 rwhp, bet he'd be pissed if he got 619, or god forbid 617. and +5 mil valves does he even knows what the +5 means and where its added, valve spacing won't allow it and anybody that would realistically attempt a swap like this doing the work himself like he said would know that. he would also know that if he wants "618" rwhp all the "+5" would do for him is give him more turbo lag

i was gonna wait for my first post till i started my build but i can't stand to watch all of u take this joker so seriously
