hidden muffler ideas

Ok,
so I've been having muffler issues. I thought of a hidden muffler set-up so it is out of plain view like on a new 7 series I saw that sparked my idea. I also saw that drivers were also doing this for clearance in drift tengoku. But I think it may just cause problems with cops all the same, cause they will think that there is actually no muffler, then you can say "oh no, it's under the car have a look","ok,here's your ticket smart-ass" But the 7 series is made this way.whatever
here's examples and a quick pshop, whaddya'll think?
*I searched, nothing came up for this, sorry if repost

Yea, Sounds like it wuld be interesting, but the piping has to go pretty low to clear the rear suspension anyway.

i think thats your problem. either way its against the law to modify it. cop can pop your hood if he REAAAALY wants to. but i dont think many cops would actually look at it and say "hey he has no muffler, pull him over!" as long as the car is quiet and its not a canister, theyd leave you alone id imagine. if you did something like the 7 serries, as long as its quiet, i dont think it would be a problem with the 5-0.

a lotta cars have dinky 1 inch tail pipes that are barely noticeable at night.

you could have it leading out the side though the skirts or something , lotta track cars do that.

I absoulutely despise the fact that BMW did the fucking MBZ shit and tucked away the muffler. Exhaust tips are like, 50% of a cars styling.

That should give you a round-a-bout summary of my opinion on your project.

Yeah...Here's the thing though

Turndowns (which is what you do w/ that style exhaust) are alot quieter than a traditional exit exhaust

Please tell me you're joking.

As for the topic at hand, I'd say go for a side exit for simplicity, or end it somewhere before the rear axle if you're trying to get more clearance from it.

route the exhaust into the trunk and have it blow into the back of the liscense plate, it probably wouldnt back up into the trunk

why is there so many threads like this

stupid "what if" ideas that anyone of even meagar financial means could accomplish, but they dont, since they dont actually give enough of a shit about the subject matter to actually do it.

this thread would be 100x better if it was like, "look guys i stealthed my muffler, heres pics of the piping" but instead its just some gay hypothetical.

the S13 Exhaust is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck.

It's a series of tubes.

And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your exhaust in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of bends, enormous amounts of bends.

Anyone else not understand this paragraph?

Just try a turndown before the axle.

iirc California law cars need to have the muffler behind the rear axle; I still see cars not following the law, but whatever.

And if he doesn't route it right, the exhaust will find it's way in the cabin.

Ah I have that new issue of DOri Ten where they show a bunch of people with those "new style" exhausts.
I don't like them. I like big pipe(s) sticking out the back, but cops don't really like that.
I suggest just doing one liike you see in the mag.

I don't think California has a requirement on mufflers being behind the rear axle. If so, then all mustangs prior to 2005 would be illegal. The law is probably that the muffler must be in the same place as the factory location. Turndowns are only quieter if they exit close to the rear of the car. If you turn down under the car, close to the middle, the sound reflects and resonates off the ground and is waay loud. For once, I agree with Chmercer that it would be better if this thread were "hey, look what i did" instead of the usual "what do you guys think?" In which case, I think it would look great if you had a hidden exhaust, but you have to have aero where a body shop has glassed over the exhaust exit. Super clean and stealth. As a matter of fact, don't do that, because now I want to do that. heh.
