Project car finally up and running - Few issues...
Well for the past 5 months I've been building an s13. I've had a hell of a time just getting her up and running. Well I finally got the engine out of the way. Now that the car is running I took it for a test drive around my neighborhood area. Here are the issues
-Brakes or something is squeaky majorly at slow speeds - backing up and slowly accelerating... The car didnt squeek before the car was parked for months... -Major pull and hard steering wheel shake when applying the brakes hard (also wants to lock up the right front wheel only..the left(drvr side) doesnt lock up???) What could be causing these issues??? Maybe a bad bad rim. I know that 1 tire in the front is a different size from the other as I needed the wheel as an emergency. But tire size shouldnt affect braking that much should it? Bleed the brakes maybe??? |

it wouldnt affect the braking like make it squeek like your saying, check your pads and rotors for wear and warpage.

+ on warped rotors.
Also make sure your pistons and pads are in good condition. It's not unheard of to have to break in brake components again if a car has been sitting idle for a while. |

i dont think its your rotors... if the car was sitting your rotors wont warp. now the sqeeking noise can be from your pads and or rotors. from sitting so long your going to problably have to bleed the lines as others were saying. but the shaking wen u brake im going to say is your tierods. the tire that is larger in the front wouldnt cause a bad shaking but would cause the car to pull. so if your saying your rotors were fine be4 the swap than thats out of the question. same with pads... they dont just go bad. keep us updated

OK... Updates:
1. My rotors are Fubar 2. My pads are Fubar 3. My tie rod ends look Fubar I added a Walbro in place of the stock KA pump and now my Sr20det is bogging and dying during a cold start. Still running the stock FPR, is this an issue? Also if I gas it hard and just press the clutch in it dies or stalls out. It didnt do this before..... Im pretty sure this is due to my FPR... |
