s13 Idle bouncing at stops, MAF or something else?

Okay, as if the clutch wasnt enough I have been meaning to post about this, I have searched the forums several times and came up with some pretty good info but I am still a little weary about what to tackle first

So, when I come to stops (only sometimes!) my rpms drop below idle (my normal idle is 750) so it drops between 500-200 and it has died about 3 times.

Now I checked my battery, it's fine. I have heard that sometimes it is the MAF on our cars that casues this, I have an aftermarket intake too, injen, it is kinda loose because it's not fully mounted down, but nothing that could do too much damage, I checked my spark plugs, wires, distributor cap and everything is fine with that...SO i am leaning towards intake system either MAF is fucked or my manifold or soemthing, I read in other posts the IAVC is a cause of this...but I was thinking of just taking the manifold off cleaning it and mounting my intake correctly (or just getting a stock one because I heard they are better then aftermarket injens from this buildup that dynoed a ka24 with injen and without and found a 10hp difference stock over aftermarket--anyone else seen that write up it was pretty interesting!).

Anyways, any info would be much appreciated !

Well, I had something that sounded very similar in my S14, and I think it was the IACV. I took off the vacuum hoses and sucked a whole bunch of seafoam through them and everything seemed fine......well for several months at least. Just today it started acting up again, I think I'll try to clean it again.

IACV is the most anoying thing on the planet when they start to go out. Usually they take awhile or it fails randomly... in my case I went through 2 of them on a 2001 Civic. Driving normally on whatever street and let off the gas the car would randomly just die. Learned to Blip (Heal and Toe) real fast.

TPS can be cleaned with Carb cleaner while running the car... should help the IACV also... dont see why not.

Now on my KA24DE, some jackhole stole my radiator and intake piping so I got a junk yard Radiator and a New Short Ram AEM just so I could start the car!! Idle was bouncing for awhile and i finnaly got around to resetting the timing and seuring the vaccum hoses better... so far it runs better.

Peace
Drew

mine also bounces a bit while I am stopped
I think I am going to clean the IACV and check a few vacuum hoses.
This was the case in my Cressida (IACV and timing was off a bit)
