I'm not slammin on anyone, but i'm wonderin what is all the slammin about with there ricey cars.  All you guys do know your riding in jap car.  Most of the style and innovation comes from japan and are done in japan before it even comes to the states.  Normally, the US is the last to see or get anything.  So my question is about the rice style.  I hope all you asian 240 drivers aren't sayin this kind of crap.  For the American drivers sportin the 240 rice burners--you can envy or dislike but don't hate.  You'd be concidered a hippocrate slammin someone's ricey vehicle while the whole time your drivin one too (bone stock or modified).  Maybe its an age and maturity thing.

Here we go...something I can comment on....
The way I see ricers (as do my friends) not just as someone who has a Japanese car, but as someone just getting into cars with their parents money and want to impress people with an ugly ass car. Example: kid gets a Civic. Kid puts nasty ass wing (Whale tail). Kid puts hallow sounding muffler that sounds like a Ricola commercial. Kid puts Altezza lights. Kid goes to Jack in the Box to find some 15 year old girls. Kid is a ricer. Now, basically a ricer is someone who totally dedicates their time and money to looks alone, but not just regular looks, but EXTRAVAGANT looks. You could say the total opposite to a ricer would be a sleeper. I have lots more shit about ricers in my head but I'm too lazy to type it all. Well thats my 2 cents. PAYCE.

agreed.. it's pretty much all show no go, with worse taste...many honda civic's meet the profile... btu not all, i never hate on honda's.. honda's are great cars.. but i do hate on ricers(to include 240 ricers)...big diff.

ok, hmmm... IMHO, i think ricers are A) kids whos daddys pay for their civics/integras andmods B) ppl  who go for body kits, 17's wings and stuff before even dropping in a K+N( because i think that performance should come before style) and C) all of the above

if this pissed someone off....this is just my opinion, and how i feel, so dont flame me for thinking plz...

A ricer is based on what a person does to the car, not the car itself. I should know, i used to equate hondas to ricers (ex.S2000, 97 and up preludes, and NSX). I know now that you shouldnt do that. However, if somebody puts stupid stuff (ie. huge wings, altezze lights, robot-like body kits, lawn mower mufflers, etc) on the cars mentioned above, they will be cosidered ricers. Just remember, its what is done to the car that makes it ricer, not the make.

To all members: I apologize for my previous post on a similar subeject, i placed my anger on the wrong thing. I hope you guys/girls can accept my apology.

Here is my understanding. There is a nice looking/beautiful car and there is a ricey car....

But for most people those 2 things mean basicly the same. Anyways, i like some of the cars that people call rice. Yeah, they are all show, no go, but there show isn't at least ambiguous/gay looking.

Examples:
body kits - nice looking
racing seats - nice looking
lowered to the ground - nice looking
even 4.5 tipped exhausts can sometimes be nice if they really flow the same way as the whole car.
On the other hand, altezzas, 20" rims, gauges on non-turbo cars... all these things that don't add performance yet look gay are rice....

haha...thanks man....now that I read that guys post, now i know that he made NO SENSE...but really, whoever thought of the new design for the Civic Si must been a mom who likes mini-vans.

hers a pic of modified 95-96 240sx w/ S15 front end conversion, this is a nice looking car, except for the big a$$ wing.. that was too much! the reason why it doesnt look rice is because it is a 240! had it been a Civic.. it would prob. be ricey looking! there is something about Civics.. they just come out of the factory being ricey looking! It's like premium sound package.. there's a Premium Rice Package for Civics!

its not cars that are all show, cuz those are fine. Its ones that try to be over-show if you know what i mean...take the whale tails...No aerodynamics, just an ugly peice of shit. I fhad a pic id show you but i dont right now...lets see if i can do it in ACSII...

I consider all knockoff companies RICE.  Erebuni, Tenzo R, ADR, Konig....etc.  All they do is copy someone elses design and cheapen it.  Copanies like them fool the public in to believing they are gettin quality.

Most of these companies have poor quality and are no way comparible to the products of the companies they copy.

I'll prob get flamed but most people who own them will admit they are using crap.  Ya and the argument is that "well the real stuff is too expensive"  That's why you save.  $250 for APC lights would be 1/4 of the money you could get Volk Gram Lites for.

If you can't afford it don't get it....it's like buying a FOLEX and trying to pass it off as a ROLEX.  Just wait till you can afford it.

you saw it too...i wasnt sure at first cause i didnt see any buttons on the knob. Thats pretty sad. Why do a turbo with an auto....that kinda killed the whole car. Dont get me wrong, its nice and all, but the performance mods,mainly the turbo, intercooler, etc., (to me) are kinda cancelled out because of the AT.

ok, i used to be impressed by nsx's im not sure why, maybe it was the titanium rods, but after tonight, im not. they are shit. 80k. think what you could do with 80k... i'll tell you what some fag did tonight at the track, well he was wearing a big helmet, looked so gay, thought the car might be fast.. no cage tho, he was too cocky to even talk to me, so what does he run 13.67 @ some mph (i forgot)... 13.67 is slow as sin, maybe the guy was an idiot... but still, just looking at one up close, its not an 80k$ car by _any means_. 40k$ is pushing it.. theres nothing special about it, c5 vettes smoke it for half the price. so now in my mind all hondas street cars are rice. not formula1, but do any of you even watch F1?

sup all... i couldnt help but be curious about this post so i went in to check it out,

first off Julia...ur ride is tight, i like ur body work and engine work too i might add...

i find nothing wrong with body kits or wings, stickers or anything that has to deal with show... but i do find that sometimes these things arent presented in a reasonable manner therefore u can call it rice. i can see where the guy who posted the board is coming from...those wings and those body kits are started in japan, but the cars that the guys in japan ride hav the muscle to back up the looks of their cars.

cars that hav a certain look for no reason such as 500 white stickers on their car (like they are being sponsored by 500 companies) a big ol' coat hanger of a wing and chrome lookin hub caps might not be the way to "present" ones car in a reasonable manner.  i guess wut im tryin to say it "rice" is based on taste.  but i dont really like using the term rice either...wuts wrong with rice...i eat it...buahahaha   <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='

Hmmmm i'll take a 300hp auto 240sx over a 155hp 5-speed any day. After all, the transmission swap would cost much less than what she has done to the car, so maybe she just doesn't want a 5-speed?

Most of these companies have poor quality and are no way comparible to the products of the companies they copy. I'll prob get flamed but most people who own them will admit they are using crap.  Ya and the argument is that "well the real stuff is too expensive"  That's why you save.  $250 for APC lights would be 1/4 of the money you could get Volk Gram Lites for.
