SR weight

Anyone have a weight of just the SR20DET? Not including the transmission. I saw somewhere someone was saying 330lbs but that didn't sound right to me. Also, does anyone have the weight of the KA? Also not including transmission. I weighed one of mine but it was the block only with not internals. That came out to 100lbs.

Actually, if someone has the weight of either with the transmission that would work too.

I have read somewhere that a stock KA weighs about 450~ish lbs. So 3 something for a SR seems about right as i heard the SR are 40-50lbs lighter then the KA.

Whoa....i thought there was more then 3 lbs difference considering we are comparing a Alloy block versus Iron, which i would think is more then 3lbs weight difference no ? I did a serach and this is where i read this: from http://www.drifting.com/forums/archi...hp/t-2082.html

[ Engine weight engine weights engine weigh transmission weight transmission weights ]

Without transmisison (figure +100-150lbs)
A12 87 kg 192 lbs
A14 93 kg 205 lbs
L18 118 kg 260 lbs
CA18ET 118 kg 260 lbs
QR25DE 121 kg 267 lbs
CA18DET 128 kg 282 lbs
SR20DE 139 kg 306 lbs
SR20DET 149 kg 328 lbs
FJ20ET 166 kg 366 lbs (205 hp)
KA24DE 167 kg 368 lbs (est)

the SR20DET weights 490lbs with a trans according to that info.

I'd rather not go by guessing. I've searched everywhere and all I get is statements saying plus or minus so many pounds to how much this engine weighs... I beginning to believe no one has weighed them.

KA24DE 167 kg 368 lbs (est)
estimated w/o transmission

The SR20DET has an aluminum block, the KA24 has iron.

But why do they weigh nearly the same?

The SR20DET has a turbocharger and intercooler piping, the KA doesn't. A 240 with a KA-T is pretty front heavy X_X

Sure, its logical to think the SR weights lighter (a lil bit), but it would weight a lot less without the turbocharger.

The SR and KAe was weighed during this project:

Thanks for the info, that is interesting.

How much does the standard turbo equip weigh on a SR?

I find it interesting that technically speaking the stock SR has more front end weight than the stock KA, due to more of the weight being farther forward than the KA (IC & piping).

**edit**
Doh, didn't see where you agreed with the other wieghts for engine only, which would mean about 40lbs for turbo equip.
