i bought a RF single amp kit for my 240SX, and i want to buy a dual amp kit for the blazer, but i don't want to pay $130.
is it better to just piece everything together from a car audio shop, or to buy a complete kit?

http://mmxpress.com/accessories.html
are these prices any good for kits and individual parts? (distribution blocks, fuse holders, battery clamps)

If you are short on cash, then individual pieces is the way to go because you dont need all the stuff a kit might come with.

OMG, I just checked out the site that you linked. Thats some BS price that they are charging for those kits. It is because the wires are name brand and stupid things like that. Personally I think that they are chargin too much. Down here in SoCal, audio prices might be cheaper than where you live so.... if you have no other choice then go for it.

If you have to get a kit from someone, take a look at this page first as a reference, or just buy one from them (personally I go through a wharehouse):

Speaking of outrageous pricing, I had some guy go up to me with a brochure at the local Alpine dealership, and told me to look through it and give him a call if I was interested, I began looking, and for a 20 ft set of RCA cables, they wanted $700, and you had to order at least 10 at a time, and I do believe that the 4 guage wiring kit was around $1,300 Seriously though, I would buy name brand wiring, I used to run Stinger, and now I use Monster Cable, both are extremely good on quality, and if you arent going to run good wire, at least spend the extra money on some good RCA's, cuz you dont want engine noise and all that shit. BTW, dont buy the Monster Cable RCA's that has the built in remote wire, it is about a 26 guage wire, that is copper, and it likes to burn up, and due to that I have fried the remote wire input on 2 different amps. Lates

There really isn't a difference b/w RCA's either... You can make RCA's out of Cat5 cable.. they important part for the RCA's is the sheilding. Cabling is pretty much the same accross the board.

good point. oh, and about the kit v. piecemeal. i guarantee you'll pay more and have more headaches buying it one by one. i got a monster cable kit for my amp (overkill, but whatever). i would have spent almost $50 more buying each of the pieces separately. but see what you can find...

Amplifier remote turn on only requires about 200ma (just enough power to activate a relay). If your "burning up" remote leads it's not due to the size of wire, more than likely there is a poor connection.
