Timing chain/tranny question

Hi, yes I'm a n00b, but I did search and quite a while too but can't seem to find the right answer or I just suck at searching.

Anyway, I know I got to do my timing chain since I already removed the top upper (useless) chain guide and got less rattling leading to my assumption that it's the lower guides. I know I need to get OEM (factory, not aftermarket) :

tensioners (upper/lower)
chains (upper/lower)
new guides (left/right)
new bolts for the tensioners
(I'll throw in the water pump and front oil seal as well)

My questions are, do I have to get the cam/crank gears too? And where can I find the cheapest OEM kit besides the AMS/turbo240 ($330) kit?

2nd half (sorry for long post)

I recently just did a 5sp swap on my car (thanks to all the threads here), however recently it started acting up. It pops out of reverse everytime now. Did I break something? I heard from our shop foreman where I work that the thrust bearing of the output shaft gets eaten up or basically destroyed pretty quickly and of course if that happens all the gears won't line up right. Any truth in that? All the forward gears are fine I suppose except for the reverse. Has anybody else experienced this? If so, anybody have a fix for it besides a rebuild?

Thanks guys. Really appreciate it.

1st part; no you dont need the gears. 2nd part; the "thrust bearing" of the output shaft has nothing to do with it poping out of gear. either doglegs or something else. find another KA tranny. they are cheap enough. or deal with the problem. after all, not like you have to drive far in reverse.

Thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.

Is the tranny going out like that pretty common? Just wondering.
