Im starting to install my dvd system pretty soon, and wanted to get some opinions before i start.Where do you think i should put the screens i have?? Ive got two 6" lcd screens and was thinking about putting one in each Sun visor. I never have anyone in my back seat, so i dont need to put one in the headrest! Wouldnt make any sense. I was thinking about Custom cutting the dash and putting one there( like between the vents on the pass. side.) Anyone have any other/ better ideas??  Oh sorry s13 by the way.

I personally disagree with in care video, especially in a sport coupe... but the only way you're going to be able to do it without looking gaudy would be the sun-visor.  Dash mounts always look lame, and since a 240 is more-or-less a two seater, rear video wouldn't make much since either.  What are you installing it for?  Show or use?

If it's only for use I was gonna say fab in into your glove box.  I dunno what an S13 glove box looks like... but anything is possible!!  I would say in your situation, before glassing the piss out of your dash, just puttem in the visor brother!!

i would have to say go for the visor, as, in the slight chance that you get pulled over, it'll be easy to just flip up, and look, no lcd, no chance for the possible "distracted driving" charge that is becoming all too popular (and expensive)
and, i personally don't like the look of the fold outs in head units, and all of the custom installs that i have seen don't really match the car

uh, why DVD in car? You can't watch while your driving. .  And by the time you get where you're going, you can watch movies on your bigass home tv (13" baybeee!!! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>)

In Florida, according to some cops I talked to, you can be stopped if there is a video screen facing the driver, or so the driver can see it.  That is why the passenger visor can have it, cuz it cant bend towards the driver, and also why minivans with stock tv's have them just behind the drivers head.
You might wanna check some laws before you put one into the dash or the driver's visor.  And dont forget, a cop can search your car for anything without your consent or a warrant.

Ummm I think most people probably know that's illegal.. doesn't it just seem illegal?  I mean seriously, however it is for a good reason... have any of you ever driven while watching TV?  It's a fucking joke!! It's like driving a 5am after you've been up all night... You get home and you can't remember any of the drive...  exactly like that!

Jeff: It's not legal for a cop to search your car without your consent or a warrant. There needs to be reasonable suspicion, and you saying "No, you can't search my car" doesn't count.

Ahh.. another of my hopeing that someone infers what i'm trying to say, as opposed to taking it literally.  Of course they cant search your car if you park next to them to run into the Kwiky-Mart, but for something, anything illegal, they can.  Such as you driving by on their left side and they see some glowing out of the driver's side visor.  That is reasonable suspicion, and they can "search" your car for that.  The search will probably be a "could you fold down your visor", but it will still gain you a ticket.

Strait up!! It's sooo easy for me to see my friends monitor in his Maxima in my 240!! Think about how much higher a Ford Crown Vic is... or A Chevy Tahoe... I don't think they'll be getting that one by the fuzz!!  Down with illegal in-car video!!

if it's illegal then why do some stores sell DVD head units???  is it one of those we'll sell it but you shouldn't use it unless blah blah blah disclaimers???  just curious...peas

Well because you can use a DVD headunit to power up rear screens... that's the point, anyways.  It's strange, as a video dealer (if you're authorized) you have to sign a contract with the dealer, that basically says you will not install the units incorrectly, because all DVD headunits (or monitors) have a wire that needs to be connected to the parking brake, when the parking brake is set, the current goes through and switches the unit on... when the parking brake is down then the monitor loses power on that line and it is unable to display moving pictures (IE video inputs) it will still display the GUI however.

 This is very easy to bypass if you just put a switch (paralleled with the brake) or if you just don't hook it into the brake all together.  It's quite simple to just bypass, but then you couldn't prove to a cop that it's hooked up legally.  It's strange some dealers (in the dealer contracts) won't let you sell video products over the counter.  Everything has to be installed.  It's really a good idea because mobile video misused is really quite dangerous!
