so my windshield wipers just started going off...

so tonight i was driving down the road with a friend and my windshield wipers started going off all the sudden. i thought my friend hit the switch, but as it turns out, something is messed up. i disconnected the harness and unscrewed the lever mechanism from the steering columb and it the stopped. does that mean the lever/switch mechanism is broken? im going to try cleaning it out, anyone have any advice?

thanks,
Greg

if they started going all crazy like when you accelerate or rev, check your alternator fuse

ha that happened to me. i thought it was really odd at the time. what i did for the meantime was i took a blown fuse, attachted wires to both ends, stuck them in the fuse panel for the wipers and routed the wires to sit in my door panel with one end attached to good fuse and i just stuck the wire on the other side when i needed to use the wipers. i kept it like that for a few months, and just for the hell of it i tried putting a new fuse back in the panel and i never had a problem with it since. worked for me.

had the same problem happen to me. it was the wiper switch. i think it was like 60 bucks from nissan. if you want, you can pull out the fuse in the kick panel. but its also the fuse for your radio. i was rolling around with no radio for a bit. no radio > people thinking i'm crazy trying to whipe dry glass.

edit- this is my bro's username.

same thing happened to me at the track! haha...its the windshield wiper amp...i got mine from R240NA for cheap and last time i checked he has a lot lying around...save yourself some money for something so miniscule...they are model specific though...i forgot which ones for which, but russ should be able to clarify for you...

Do you have lowering springs or coilovers? If so, your passenger side fender harness might be rubbing. My car has all kinds of crazy electrical problems thanks to my fender harnesses, I'm relocating them to the engine bay tomorrow.

Mine did the same thing, but if I put it all the way down to the fast wipe postition they stay off.Hopefully its just the stalk/switch.

i just got my engine bay washed too!
can you please post a picture of where the "wiper amp" is. i dont know where it is. or please give a detailed description of where it would be.

also, can someone post a picture of which fuse is which next to the kick panel? a pic of the fusebox cover for the kickpanel would be great too

thank you,
Greg
