There are a few reasons why this might happen, and depending on how much you know about cars/your car, you should be able to easily rule some of them out.
1) Cylinder 2 spark plug not firing --a) Is the coilpack plugged in or is it properly connected to the distributor? --b) Is the plug gapped correctly (may be blowing out at higher RPM)? 2) Injector on that cylinder is kind of shot....not opening correctly, spraying TOO MUCH fuel. Those are the only reasons I could think of that one cylinder would run more rich that the others. If the spark is not going off at ALL in that cylinder, you should feel that and the car should sputter snd feel unbalanced.

Don't forget that the o-rings in cyl 2 injector could be failing.

This too! Good point....injector could be okay, and he could save himself a ton of money if it was just an o-ring rather than an injector.

well i replaced the 2nd injector a week back because the guy i bought the car from said the injector was bad so i bought antoher one from tokona-x.
okay so how can i check my injectors? coilpack? maybe i installed the injector from tokona incorrectly. am i suppose to take out the whole rail to install one injector? do you guys think the 2nd cylinder is flooding? |

coil on plug? just swap the coil with a different cylinder. How long does it take to think of something like that, you see 4 coils. You also got 4 injectors too.

Remove the rail, turn on fuel pump (engine off)! Does the rail drip, spray or pee any fuel? Take necessary precautions.

It should spray out of the nozzles all equally.
If it looks like it's coming out more of a "stream" in one than the other, that's bad. If it looks like it's dribbling out of one, that's also bad. They should be uniform.

If fuel rail has fuel coming out from the bottom once removed at "on" position, o-ring(s) is leaking. Now which one is leaking? If you cannot think-it-out, let other people work on your car. |
