S14 or 300zx rear calipers on S13?

search button wasnt working so sorry if this was asked already, the rear brakes on the S13 are pretty tiny and i was wondering if the S14's rear calipers were any bigger or if the 300zx's would work better. and also if i were to use the S14's rear calipers, would i need to use a bigger rotor or is the normal S13 size the same? thanks

s14 has a slightly bigger piston. 3Z front + S14 rear should be perfect on an S13 assuming no funky tire setups or different pads

i believe the rotors are the same

my summer tires are 215/45 17in. so the 3z calipers should fit with the 17s ive heard. then ill invest in S14 calipers. sounds good. i dont have abs though... should i be worried about locking them up too easily?

S14 rear caliper has a different ebrake bracket, you'll need to swap it over. The actual caliper isn't any bigger, the piston is larger by maybe 2mm, not enough to even notice. A better choice would be Q45/J30, same size rotor as the Z32 but your OE line will bolt up.

Your question makes no sense.

The J30/Q45 rotor will need to be drilled to fit onto a 4lug hub, just like a Z32 rotor would need to.

or u could just swap over the whole rear setup if you can find it... as a complete assembly... im pretty sure someone on zilvia was running that setup.... honestly go 5 lug its well worth it with the brakes.. just find a donor s14 5 lug assembly or a 300zx setup... 12 pistons makes so much a diff

for the parking brake of the q45, is it the same as s13? searched and couldn't find much info on that area. just kept mentioning that the stock brake lines work.

J30/Q45 is drum style like the Z32, same size rotor so you can use any caliper/rotor setup you like as long as you swap all the hardware over.

So J30 rear ebrake hardware/splash shield can be used with the Z? What about the cables, anyone ever try using those?

Yep, Z32, J30 and Q45 all use the same size parking brake setup, so they should be interchangable, though Ive never tried it personally.

Q45 (G50) uses solid discs in the rear while the J30 uses vented discs. I forget the diameters, but the J30 rears are a better choice. The Y33 Q uses the same rears as the J30.

OK I'm going to throw this out there for verification, since it's been an issue of contingincy (in the past) on the z32 front swap. Please correct me if I'm wrong or you have additonal info.

Stock 240sx brake bias is ~70% front.

Switing to 300zx front calipers ONLY yelids ~75% front bias.

Switching to z32 fronts and rears requires z32 MC change for correct (not mushy) pedal feel and to prevent on/off lockup - the larger the MC the firmer the pedal.

No need to swap to a larger master cylinder for a z32 fronts only swap. I personally had no issue with 26mm rotors/calipers on a (slightly larger 7/8) ABS 240sx Master Cylinder (Sold the car before I made it to the track with this setup to really test it out- but the pedal was fine and like stock).

Assuming all I posted above is correct, I'd upgrade only fronts first. Should provide all the fade resistance you need with decent pads front and rear, and you can keep the stock parking brake setup.
