the ball joints are actually not meant to be replaced seperately on 240's but you can do it however. i did it to mine when i swapped to 5 lug. there are snap rings holding them from the top of the c/a iirc remove that then you can pound the old one out with a hmmer as for the new ones i pressed them in at work but there are alternatives i know my friend used when he replaced his to press it in. i forgot what he used though.

Okay. Is this snap ring below the rubber part? And if at all possible, will you get a hold of your freind? One of the tools I dont have is a press. I would like to know how he did it. Thanks.

just get a bigazz socket or a proper drift and set it over the ball joint (just on the reinforced edges) and pound it in with a big hammer. then put the snap ring on and reassemble. have fun!

Just to add, a pickle fork or ball joint remover (that looks like a big two pronged fork), is not meant to pull a ball joint that is intended to be used again. It will tear up the boot requiring purchase of a new one (well two so they remain the same).

The way to removed a balljoint is to hit the knuckle around it with a hammer which will allow the ball joint shaft to come loose (unseated) the knuckle leaving the ball joint unbroken and ready to be reused (if it's still in good condition).
