this is really annoying. when i'm cruising in 4th gear in the 40-50 MPH range, it frequently pops out of gear and into neutral. like, the stick actually jumps out of gear. it's REALLY annoying. what's up with that?

hmm sounds like a common frequently associated with bad synchros. Time to start saving up maybe....................

You could check the tranny and engine mounts.  Sometimes they can be the reason why you car pops out of gear

bad synchros, hmm... how much would something like that cost to repair? i've still got about $1500 in insurance money left over from when i got the 240.

if not the synchro, it could be a worn shift fork.

always replace the shift fork if you are going to replace the synchro

i would have to say bad syncros too.  my friends car did that too, not a 240 but we're talkin trannys.  when it pops out of gear, thats a sign of a tranny going bad.  syncros are really exspensive.  almost the same price as a new tranny.  so maybe just get a new tranny.
